Vagharshak Harutyunyan received the delegation led by the Minister of Defence of Cyprus

On April 25, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan received the delegation led by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus Kharalambos Petrides. The Minister of Defence of Cyprus has arrived in Armenia to take part in the events dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Issues related to the development of bilateral and trilateral Armenia-Cyprus-Greece cooperation in the field of defense were discussed during the meeting. The priority directions of cooperation were mentioned, which include a wide range of military and military-technical cooperation. The parties expressed hope that after the temporary cessation of cooperation activities due to the epidemic, in the second half of this year, it will be possible to approve further cooperation programs and start their active implementation.

The interlocutors also discussed issues related to regional security. The RA Minister of Defence presented the details of the military operations unleashed in Artsakh and the situation after their completion.

In his turn, the Defence Minister of Cyprus noted that the two countries have similar security challenges, taking into account the experience gained by the Armenian side during the hostilities, and stressed the need for joint work to meet the challenges.

An agreement was reached to continue discussions on regional security issues in the near future.
