The personnel of the Role 2 field hospital MTF, operating under the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defence, participated in the opening ceremony of the exercise

On May 3rd, the active phase of the Vigorous Warrior 2024 military medical exercise commenced at the Bakonykuti training center near the Varpalota region of the Republic of Hungary. The personnel of the Role 2 field hospital MTF, operating under the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defence, participated in the opening ceremony of the exercise. The Director of the MILMED COE, Colonel Dr. László Fazekas, congratulated the participants, emphasizing that military medical exercises provide an excellent opportunity to learn from each other in a friendly and collaborative environment, exchange knowledge and experience, and deepen cooperation. The primary objective of this multinational military exercise is to enhance practical skills as part of synchronized actions aimed at increasing the efficiency of interaction between the medical support systems of NATO member countries and partner countries. It is worth noting that more than 1,600 representatives from 32 countries and 7 civilian organizations are participating in the Vigorous Warrior 2024 military medical exercise.

Suren Papikyan received the U.S. Ambassador

On May 2, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, received the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia, Kristina Kvien. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the United States in the defense field, as well as future development prospects. Both sides highly valued the current level of cooperation, and the American side expressed readiness to continue supporting the defense reforms being implemented in Armenia. Additionally, the meeting addressed issues related to regional security. At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Papikyan and Ambassador Kvien signed an agreement to extend the validity period of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the United States of America Concerning Cooperation in the Area of Counterproliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

The mobile field hospital of the Medical Battalion of the Military Medical Department participates in multinational military exercise Vigorous Warrior-2024

The mobile field hospital of the Medical Battalion of the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defence has been deployed at the Bakonykuti training center in the Varpalota region of the Hungarian Republic since April 30, 2024, to take part in multinational military exercises as part of the Vigorous Warrior 2024 program organized by the NATO Center of Excellence for Military Medicine. The largest international military medical event involves military medical units from the armed forces of 32 countries and 7 civilian organizations. The event will continue until May 10th. The medical unit of the Armenian Armed Forces is participating in this event as a Role 2 field hospital MTF. Additionally, the exercise includes the next stage of medical assessment of the mobile military medical unit according to NATO standards.

А delegation led by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia participated in the annual discussions

From April 29 to 30, a delegation led by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Colonel Artur Yeroyan, participated in the annual discussions of the RA Ministry of Defense and the NATO Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP) in Armenia at NATO headquarters. During the meeting, the parties reviewed the support provided to military educational institutions and training centers in Armenia under the DEEP framework and identified new areas of cooperation. The parties agreed on a cooperation program for 2024, and prospects for cooperation in 2025 were outlined. Additionally, Colonel Yeroyan held a private discussion with the Director of the Cooperative Security Division of the NATO International Military Staff, Dacian-Tiberiu Șerban. The current RA-NATO military cooperation programs and possibilities for their expansion were discussed.

The KFOR command highly valued the service of the Armenian military contingent

The NATO KFOR Command conducted a visit to the location of the Republic of Armenia's contingent stationed in Kosovo. During the visit, the Commander of the military contingent, Captain Vardan Amiryan, briefed the KFOR command on the contingent's responsibilities in area protection and the operational aspects of their service. The KFOR command highly valued the service of the Armenian military contingent. As a token of appreciation, the Commander of the Camp, Colonel Tim Daly, and Chief of Staff of KFOR, Brigadier General John Bozicevic presented awards to the commander of the military contingent, Captain Vardan Amiryan, and several other servicemembers.

Suren Papikyan received Ronan Le Gleut

On April 30, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, received a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces, and Committee on European Affairs of the French Senate, Ronan Le Gleut. The discussions during the meetings focused on the Armenia-Italy military cooperation

From April 23 to 25, a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Karen Brutyan, was on a working visit to the Republic of Italy. Suren Papikyan welcomed a delegation led by the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan

On April 25th, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, welcomed a delegation led by the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, Maxime Longangué. The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia congratulated Mr. Longangué on assuming his new position and expressed his best wishes for success in his mission. Issues related to the implementation of the "Strengthening of Human Rights in the Armed Forces of Armenia" program by the CE office in Yerevan were discussed during the meeting. This program contributes to raising awareness of human rights in the Armed Forces, developing educational capabilities and institutional reforms within the defence department, enhancing the educational capacities of female servicemembers, aligning the conduct rules of servicemembers with international standards, and ensuring the effective and timely implementation of measures outlined in the Human Rights Defender (HRD) strategy. In the context of ensuring ongoing cooperation, both parties emphasized the importance of maintaining and expanding the achieved results. The interlocutors also highlighted the need for continuity and exploring new avenues for cooperation.
