On August 11, a serviceman of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defence Granik Vardan Khnkoyan was fatally wounded yet unknown circumstances. An investigation is ongoing to ascertain fully the circumstances of the incident. The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia extends its deepest condolences to the next of kin, relatives, and co-servicemembers of G.Khnkoyan.

On August 10, a serviceman of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defence Zhora Zohrab Karapetyan was fatally wounded yet unknown circumstances. Despite the efforts of doctors, they could not be able to save the serviceman’s life. An investigation is ongoing to ascertain fully the circumstances of the incident. The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia extends its deepest condolences to the next of kin, relatives, and co-servicemembers of Zh. Karapetyan.

On August 10, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Armenia Piotr Skwieciński. The meeting was attended by the Defense, Military and Air Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Armenia, Colonel Wojciech Wiśniewski. The Minister of Defense congratulated Ambassador Skwieciński on commencing the mission in Armenia and wished fruitful cooperation. Topics related to the current status and prospects for expanding the defense cooperation between Armenia and Poland, as well as regional security, were discussed.

On August 9, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Armenia, Olivier Decottignies, and the newly appointed Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Arnaud Helly. The Minister of Defence congratulated Ambassador Decottignies and Lieutenant Colonel Arnaud Helly on the occasion of commencing the mission in Armenia and wished fruitful cooperation. During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of establishment of the Defence Attaché office at the French Embassy in Yerevan, which was implemented within the framework of the agreement reached in September 2022 between Defence Ministers Suren Papikyan and Sébastien Lecornu. A range of topics on the current status of the Armenian-French defence cooperation and development prospects, as well as regional security, were discussed.

On August 7, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan visited the MoD Military Police and held a consultation with the leadership. The Chief of the MoD Military Police, Major General Ashot Zakaryan briefed on the work being done among the Armed Forces to strengthen the legality and discipline, and the upcoming activities to the Minister of Defence. The Head of the Defence Agency urged to be intolerant towards the vicious morals and spare no effort to eradicate them from the Armed Forces. Measures for the prevention and detection of crimes, interaction between the military unit and the military police, aimed at strengthening discipline, as well as other issues were discussed. Minister Papikyan gave some guidance and instructions for further activities.
