Ministry of Defence Statement

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia categorically denies the claims put forward by the joint statement of the ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan alleging that throughout the day the Armed Forces of Armenia fired at Azerbaijani military positions as well as civilian settlements.

The Ministry of Defence of Armenia states that the Armed Forces of Armenia did not undertake any actions or fire a single shot across the entire border.

Moreover, unlike Azerbaijan, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia never and under no circumstances target civilian settlements. These accusations are either a primitive disinformation or an attempted informational preparation of future provocations by the Azerbaijani side.

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic Armenia warns Azerbaijani politico-military leadership of strong measures the Armenian side will take in response to any provocation by Azerbaijan and calls to refrain from plunging into new adventures, which may have unpredictable consequences for the whole region.

The unconditional adherence to the 1994-1995 ceasefire agreements along with implementation of the agreements on expansion of the capacities of the Office of the Personal Representative of the Chairperson-in-Office and establishment of an investigative mechanism of ceasefire violations reached at the level of the Presidents is the best way to avoid the practice of hollow accusations.
