Discussions on the perspectives on development of the Armenian-NATO defence cooperation

On April 22nd, discussions were held, in NATO Headquarters, on the RA Planning and Review Process in the format of Political Military Steering Committee + Armenia. The delegation headed by First Deputy Minister of Defence Davit Tonoyan, presented NATO member-states with the current process of Armenian defence reforms, the perspectives on development of the Armenian-NATO defence cooperation, as well as the aggressions against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic initiated by Azerbaijan on April 2nd.

The committee chairman and the representatives of NATO member-states praised Armenia’s commitment to the continued development of cooperation with NATO, its participation to international peacekeeping missions, and its progress in defence reforms; and expressed readiness for further support.

In light of recent developments of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, NATO member-states expressed their condolences to the families of victims, and stressed the importance of a peaceful resolution through the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Co-Chairs.

Based on those discussions, a decision was made to present the 2016 document on RA Planning and Review Process

for the approval of Armenia and NATO member-states.
