Message of the RA Defence Minister Suren Papikyan
Dear servicemen, compatriots, relatives of the brave, immortalized in the defence of the borders of the Motherland, we gave yet another year to history. 2022 was marked by a number of achievements in army construction, feats of soldiers and officers, unceasing efforts to preserve the fragile peace, as well as the people's efforts to keep our country standing and invincible.

On December 24, RA Defence Minister Suren Papikyan, accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Defence Minister, Major General Edward Asryan and Governor of Armavir Region Edward Hovhannisyan, visited N training center of the Ministry of Defence, got acquainted with the organization of the service and ongoing construction work.

On December 23 at around 3:15 a.m, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from different caliber firearms towards the Armenian combat positions located nearby Verin Shorzha village. The Azerbaijani armed forces also used mortars. No casualties from the Armenian side. As of 8:30 a.m of December 23, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone is relatively stable.

On December 21, the head of Defence Policy and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defence Levon Ayvazyan met with the military attaches of foreign embassies accredited in Armenia. During the year-end closing meeting, the works carried out in the current year were summarized, the guests were presented with a briefing on the reforms being implemented in the field of security and defence of RA. It was noted that in 2023, a more dynamic cooperation in the military-diplomatic sphere is expected.

Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, 1st Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Edward Asryan received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Armenia Fan Yun. Senior Colonel An Qian, Attaché for Defence Affairs of the Chinese Embassy, was also present at the meeting. The sides highly appreciated the level of bilateral cooperation, including in the defence sector. The interlocutors expressed willingness to continue cooperation in peacekeeping, military education and medicine, as well as the organization of mutual visits of high-ranking delegations.

ԱվելինThe anniversary of the formation of the radio-electronic combat troops was celebrated
On December 17, the 30th anniversary of the formation of the radio-electronic combat troops of the Armed Forces was solemnly celebrated in one of the military units. The event was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Edward Asryan, and other high-ranking military officers. The speakers touched upon the formation of the REC and the path taken, stressing the role of its subdivisions in strengthening the combat capability of the army. At the end of the event, a number of servicemen were awarded with departmental medals, certificates of honor and valuable gifts.
