Armenian defence minister attends international defence exhibition

Armenian Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan, on a working Visit to the United Arab Emirates, has attended the Abu Dhabi International Defence Conference and the IDEX-2019 Defence Exhibition. Minister Tonoyan has also visited the pavilion showcasing Armenia-made defence products.

On 17 February, Minister Tonoyan met with Abu Dhabi Emirate Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Dubai Governor Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. At the meetings, they discussed cooperation between the two states in the defence sector.

Speaking about the bilateral military cooperation, Minister Tonoyan pointed to the importance of making the cooperation systematic and based on an agreement. He also spoke about the goals of the Armenian humanitarian mission in Syria.

While in Abu Dhabi, Minister Tonoyan also met with Greek Defence Minister Evangelos Apostolakis, congratulated him on assuming the office and invited him to Armenia. At the meeting, they discussed a wide range of issues related to the Armenian-Greek military cooperation. Highlighting the achievements in this field, both ministers expressed readiness to deepen the military cooperation.

Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan and Armenian Foreign Ministry Secretary General Vahagn Melikyan, planted a tree at the Embassy of Armenia in Abu Dhabi. Tonoyan also visited Abu The Holy Martyrs Cathedral of Dabi; Ara Khanoyan national school operates adjacent to the Cathedral.
