Operational gathering of the leadership of the Armed Forces have commenced

In accordance with the preparation plan of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, 5-day operational meetings of the leadership of the Armed Forces commenced on February 20th.

In the context of cooperation between the two Armenian states, representatives of the commanding staff of the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic also participated in the meeting.

 

On the first day, the commanding staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia met with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia spoke about questions concerning public and national security, and answered questions of interest to the participants of the gathering.
 

Greeting the participants and expressing the importance of this annual gatherings in increasing the level of awareness, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan read a lecture entitled "Leadership and Management." "Every commander combines two very important functions: that of manager, since it is his responsibility to manage the subdivisions under the command of his subordinates, and that of the leader, since the commander must have the qualities and responsibilities of a leader in order to succeed. Therefore, as Minister of Defense, I expect to see these qualities during your service," emphasized Minister Vigen Sargsyan.

 

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Eduard Nalbandyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, lieutentant general Movses Hakobyan also spoke with the participants of the meeting.

 

The speakers refered to the state of the national economy and priorities for its future development, ongoing issues, the internal and external challenges facing the nation, possibilities for expanding international cooperation, the main directions of the foreign policy of Armenia, as well as questions concerning the preparedness of the Armed Forces and the neutralization of the provocations made by adversary.

 

The aim of the operational gathering of the leadership of the Armed Forces is to introduce the participants to the prioties of the country's internal and external policies and intentions involving the development of the Armed Forces, discuss cooperation between the Armed Forces and other similar government structures, exchange experience, increase and enhance the knowledge and skills of generals, officers, and special civilian servicemen in the operational and strategic arts and management of forces and form collective understanding and perspectives among high-ranking officials concerning the combat readiness of the army and questions concerning the continuous enhancement of national defense.
