On 27th of June a forum of ministry board took place in the RA Ministry of Defense during which issues on the state of military readiness and further enforcement of well behaviour in the armed forces were discussed. The forum was headed by the minister of defense Seyran Ohanyan. During the forum the deputy chief of the General Staff of the RA armed forces, Major-General Haykaz Baghmanyan and Colonel Aleksan Aleksanyan read their reports. They paid attention to the state of military readiness in the RA armed forces and the degree of appropriateness of the issues brought up, also to the well behaviour and legal work in the armed forces, and the effectiveness of the activities done to avoiding and investigating illegalness and crimes.

On 25th of June the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affaires Hrayr Karapetyan, together with the committee members, visited the central republican gathering station in order to watch the draft process. Media and NGO representatives also took part in the visit. The Parliament members met with the officers and medical stuff, talked to the draftees and their parents.

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia informs, that in such a contingency the representatives of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia will not participate in the NATO/PfP Exercises “Cooperative Longbow / Cooperative Lancer 2009”, which will take place in Georgia.

On March 28, 2008 the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan, headed by RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and accompanied by the Minister of Education and Science, attended a social function dedicated to the 7th anniversary of Pokr Mher educational complex, which for the first time was being celebrated as a birthday.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan according to the fixed order, each month organizes reception of citizens.

On March 24 the recurrent sitting of the interdepartmental commission coordinating the Defense Strategy Review held its recurrent sitting at the Ministry of Defense. The sitting was presided over by co-chairs of the commission, secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan and Defense Mnister Seyran Ohanyan.

Regarding the mass disinformation released by the Azerbaijani side over the prisoners of war (POW) of the Armed Forces of Armenia and as if they are refusing to return to their mother land the Defense Ministry of Armenia announces: “According to our information from verified sources, under the pressure of the azeri special services the Armenian POW are being oppressed and restrained psychically and morally in order to make false announcements.

On March 11, 2009 the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan visited the 9th fortified area unit in Armavir region. The commander of the unit colonel H. Shahbazyan reported minister about the current situation, existing problems of the unit also about the performed construction.

On March 13, 2009 at 10:00 am the military attaches accredited in the Republic of Armenia in the frames of work schedule of military attaches association will visit to the demining center of defense ministry of RA.
