RA Defense Minister, Michael Harutyunyan’s report to the representatives of media on the results and achievements of 2007 and main goals for 2008
On January 18, 2008 in the reception hall of RA defense ministry took place RA Defense Minister, Michael Harutyunyan’s report to the media on the results and achievements of 2007 and main goals and issues for 2008. The meet comprises heads of Mass Media, press secretors of different ministries, PIOs, accredited journalists.
While presenting the final report of army death rate to the journalists, M. Harutyunyan said that there were 31 cases of death in 2007, two soldiers out of which were on their holidays.
Defense minister said that compared with 2006 the rate has decreased two times and it is the lowest result since the formation of the army. “But we can not say this is a good result, because even one death is lose for us,” he said.
The ministry takes serious measures to create high level discipline in army. M. Harutyunyan said that in 2008 we are intending to equip the military units and kitchens with new and modern accommodations.
The Ministry also works on improving the living conditions of military personnel.
After report, defense minister M. Harutyunyan awarded medal of Anradnik Ozanyan to the some accredited journalist of MOD RA.
