1988 - 1989 Transferred under the subordination of the Trans-Caucasian military district commander and appointed as the motorized rifle company commander of 366th motorized rifle regiment in Stepanakert

1989 - 1990 Motorized rifle battalion Deputy Commander of 366th motorized rifle regiment

1990 - 1992 Motorized rifle battalion Commander of 366th motorized rifle regiment

1992 After the withdrawal of 366th motorized rifle regiment from Stepanakert continued his military service in the Defense Army of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh

Participated in the military activities at all fronts. In 1992 was heavily wounded in the outskirts of Chldran village of Martakert region.

1992 - 1994 Chief of Staff of self-defense forces of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh

1994 - 1998 First Deputy Commander of the Defense Army of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh

1998 - 1999 Commander of 5th Army Corps of the Republic of Armenia by the decree of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia

1999 - 2000 Minister of Defense of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh

2000-2007 Minister of Defense - Commander of the Defense Army of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh

2007 with the decree of the RA President was appointed Chief of the GS of the RA Armed Forces - first deputy of the Minister of Defence

In 1995 promoted to the rank of Major General

In 2000 promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General

In 2007 promoted to the rank of Colonel General
