On January 29, 2009 the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Estonia to Armenia Thomas Luk and Military Attaché Risto Lumi.

On January 28, 2009 Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan awarded a number of high-ranked officials with honorable medals and diplomas of gratitude of the National Assembly on the occasion of the Army Day.

On January 28, 2009 the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan, the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Chairman of National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan, and other high ranking officials visited Yerablur to commemorate the memory of Artsakh war, put a wreath on the tombs of Andranik Zoravar and Vazgen Sargsyan.

On January 13,2009 the recurrent sitting of the interdepartmental commission to organize and conduct the jubilee events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of withdrawing the Soviet troops from Afghanistan took place at the Ministry of Defense chaired by Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan.

On December 23, 2008 the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan received the delegation headed by the Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Bagher accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Armenia Seid Ali Saghaian.

On October 8, 2008 the Azeri soldier who crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and yielded himself prisoner to the Armenian side declared that he would like to assume Armenian citizenship. The Azeri captive stated in an exclusive interview:

On December 15, 2008 the recurrent sitting of the interdepartmental commission coordinating the review of the Defense Strategy of the Republic of Armenia was held at the Ministry of Defense. The sitting was chaired by Co-Chairs of the Commission, RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan.

On December 8, 2008 the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan received the delegation of representatives of the Armenian community of Russia headed by the Consul General of Armenia in Rostov Ararat Gomtsyan.
