Graduation exams held for contract sergeants

The graduation exams for squad and platoon sergeants of the petty officers’ school, serving on contract basis, was held on 16 august. Some 57 contracted sergeants attended the exams; six of them will serve as platoon sergeants, and 51 as squad sergeants. The commander of the military unit, Col. V. Arsenyan, handed certificates of completion to the contract sergeants during the solemn ceremony.

Armenian, Russian defence ministers meet in Moscow

Armenian Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan met on 11 August with Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu as part of his visit to Moscow. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current issues of the Armenian-Russian bilateral military-political, military and military-technical cooperation and forthcoming steps. They also discussed the joint programmes carried out within international organisations, in particular, in the CSTO.

Group of discharged military servicemen with complaints hosted in Defence Ministry

Nikolay Baghdasaryan, an adviser to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Aleksandr Avetisyan, the head of the Defense Ministry's Human Rights and Good Conduct Centre, received on August a group of discharged servicemen who demand that their participatin in the April 2016 battles be recorded in their military books.

Armenian Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan received on 8 August Razmik Arzumanyan, President of the Armenian Wounded Heroes Foundation. Arzumanyan briefed the minister on the works accomplished in the past two years, in particular, the aid shown to the Armenian army.

Representatives of the Armenian Armed Forces Air Defence Troops and Armament are participating in the Clean Sky and infantry combat vehicles subdivisions competition, held in China, 5-8 August, as part of the International Army Games -2018. In addition, Armenian Air Force representatives will attend as observers the Aviadarts competition, held in Russia.

Armenian citizen surrenders weapons, ammunition to Military Police

Following explanatory works by Military Police officers, a person identified as S.P. voluntarily surrnedered to the Military Police an AK -74 assault rifle, one magazine for 5.45 mm rounds with 30 rounds, one 16-mm hunting rifle, two anti-tank mines, 600 pieces of 7.62-mm rounds and 60 pieces of 5.45-mm rounds.
