Kansas National Guard delegation on visit in Armenia

Armenia’s Acting Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan received on 6 December Maj. Gen. Lee Tafanelli, Adjutant General of Kansas and the commander of the Kansas Army National Guard. The delegation headed by Maj. Gen. Tafanelli was accompanied by US Charge d 'Affaires in Armenia Rafik Mansour.

The parties praised the current level of the cooperation, and discussed the prospects of further cooperation.

Minister Tonoyan said that during the 15 years of cooperation, the Armenian military and the Kansas National Guard have implemented -- and continue to carry out—many projects that constitute an important part of the Armenian-US collaboration in the defence sector.

Maj. Gen. Tafanelli said that as Armenia’s partner, the Kansas National Guard will continue to develop the cooperation in peacekeeping, military medicine, personnel tactics training and other directions while being open to any new initiative. He handed over to Minister Tonoyan Kansas Governor Jeffrey Collier’s statement that proclaims the 6 December 2018 Day of 6 was proclaimed Kansas-Armenia Cooperation. Governor Collier is set to arrive in Armenia on 7 December to participate in the commemorative events for the 1988 earthquake victims.
