Defence minister receives Russian envoy to Armenia, military attaché

Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan received on 15 May Russia’s envoy to the Republic of Armenia, Andrey Ivanov, and the Russian Embassy’s military and air force attaché, Maj. Gen. Yevgeni Bulavintsev.

Ivanov congratulated Tonoyan on the latter’s appointed as defence minister, wished him success in the public service.

Minister Tonoyan, from his part, praised the strategic Armenian-Russian allied relations, pointing to their importance in ensuring Armenia’s military security, and assured him that those relations will continue to expand further by utilising the great potential in a number of directions.

Tonoyan also underscored the importance of the cooperation between the two countries within military-political alliances, in particular the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and within other international organisations.

The parties discussed current issues related to the bilateral military cooperation, including the ways of further development at the military-political, military and military-technical levels, as well outlined the upcoming tasks. They also exchanged opinions on issues of mutual interest regarding the international and regional security.
