2018 Armenian-Italian defence cooperation programme signed

Armenian-Italian military-political consultations were held in Rome on 26-28 March. Armenia was represented by a delegations headed by Deputy Head of Defence Ministry's Defence Policy Department Mher Israyelyan. Consultations are held once a year, consecutively in Yerevan and Rome on the level of the defence departments leaderships of the two countries.

The parties discussed the Armenian- Italian defence cooperation programmes, international and regional security issues, summarised the results of the 2017 bilateral defence cooperation. They praised the joint peacekeeping mission in Lebanon in 2014.

At the end of the consultations, the parties signed the Armenian-Italian defence cooperation programme for 2018.The program envisages a number of activities on the mountain training and military education, as well as on engaging military police and carabinieri in international missions, and other issues of interest.
