Under a criminal investigation prosecuted by the Investigative Committee’s Department of Military Investigations, criminal charges have brought against the deputy commissar of Nor Nork District for assisting in paying and getting a large amount of bribe.

According to the preliminary investigation information, the Military Police had received information that Lt. Colonel H. Madatyan, the deputy commissar of Nor Nork District, advised in August-September 2017 a former platoon commander in the rank of senior lieutenant to continue his service near his place of residence and persuaded him to pay an amount of $ 3,000 in bribe to an appropriate official in the Ministry of Defence for taking action in his favour, namely, to appoint him to the vacant position of deputy commissar of Amasia. After personally receiving the $ 3,000, he assisted in an action leading to the appointment of the senior lieutenant to the name position on 27 October 2017.

Madatyan has been charged under Article 38-312, Part 1, Part 3, Section 1 and Article 38-311, Part 4, Section 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code.

Madatyan has been detained.

The investigation is under way and necessary investigative actions are being taken to find out the identity of other persons who may have also been involved in the case.

Note: Suspects of alleged offense are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
