The bust of Soviet Union Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan was solemnly erected in Moscow’s Great Patriotic War Central Museum on November 10.

The bust is the gift of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation on the occasion of the Soviet Union's double hero’s 120th birthday. Armenian Defence Minister Armenia Vigen Sargsyan handed it to the museum. The solemn event took place at the Victory Museum Central Hall’s Pantheon of Soviet Commanders, commemorating the heroic deeds of the Great Patriotic War heroes.

Russian Deputy Defence Minister Alexander Fomin, high-ranking officials of the Armenian and Russian defence ministries, Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toghanyan, descendants of the Victory commanders, veterans, renowned Russian public, scientific and cultural figures as well as representatives of the Armenian community were in attendance.

The Armenian embassy in Russia was the initiator of erecting Hovhannes Baghramyan's bronze bust. The bust was created by sculptors Misak Melkonyan and Ashot Tadevosyan.

"The museum is a science and memory. It is a crucial tool against all means of rewriting the history. It is a great honour for us to donate Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan's bust to the Great Patriotic War Central Museum on behalf of the Republic of Armenia, as his contribution to creating a united victory is hard to overestimate. Armenia and the Armenian society were among the countries and peoples whose united efforts made humanity and civilization survive the worst evil of the 20th century - fascism. For Armenia and the Armenian people, this victory was of special significance. Just three decades after the tragic events of World War I and the 1915 Genocide that claimed 1.5 million Armenian lives, Armenia, one of the least populous republics in the USSR, had the most active participation in the Great Patriotic War, mobilizing and sending 600,000 people to the front," Defence Minister Sargsyan said.
