The 25th anniversary of scout forces was celebrated in one of the Armenian Armed Forces’ special units on November 7. Armenian Defence Minister Vigen Sargsyan, high-ranking military officers, veteran scouts, relatives of servicemen were present at the event.

Welcoming and congratulating them on their professional holiday, Minister Sargsyan praised their contribution to maintaining peace, noting that there is a concept of "scout legends" in all the armies of the world. These are the stories whose heroes inspire courage.

"In our reality, the heroes of those stories are directly beside us. They are the scouts involved in the Artsakh war, their worthy descendants are the members of the special units who played a decisive role in the April war and our boys who restrain the adversary at the border on daily basis. To beside the heroes, to serve the homeland with them is a unique feeling, which is both inspirational and obligatory," Sargsyan said.

He also recalled and praised those who, crafting the hard but honourable path of those forces in the past 25 years, had fallen into combat missions. At his suggestion, their memory was respected by a minute of silence.

"Without giving up a lot of details, I once again thank all of you for the difficult and important service thanks to which the long-ranging plans of our enemy and all our maladies have been and will be in vain," he added, whishing them many victorious moments and occasions for pride in their professional service.

During the event, a number of servicemen of scout units were awarded with Ministry’s medals and diplomas.

The guests of the festive event were shown the armament, equipment, communication and observation means the scout units use, followed by a performance of scout units.
