Russia’s Southern Military District commander hosted at Armenian Ministry of Defence

As part of the Partnehsip – 2017 exercise held in Armenia, Russia’s Southern Military District Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Dvornikov read a lecture on the military and political situation in Syria and the operations carried out there in that regard at the Armenian Ministry of Defence on October 12. Dvornikov had previously led the Russian military contingent in Syria.

Attending the lecture were Armenian Defence Minister Vigen Sargsyan, Chief of Armenian Armed Forces General Staff Lt. Gen. Movses Hakobyan, high-ranking Armenian officers and special civil servants.

Col. Gen. Dvornikov briefed his Armenian colleagues on the tactics of the Islamic State’s armed groups in Syria and ways to combat it, and spoke about the peculiarities of conducting modern military operations, as well as the ways and means of fighting illegal armed groups in conflict zones.
