Crucifixes handed in St. Echmiatsin

As part of the events marking the 20th anniversary of the formation of the religious service in the Armenian Armed Forces, a solemn ceremony of handing crucifixes was held in St. Echmiatsin on October 10. During the ceremony, Armenian Catholicos Garegin II blessed and handed over to the commanders of the Armenian Armed Forces corps and categories protection crucifixes bearing the names of the Armenian Apostolic Church saints, each of whom is the guardian saint of a certain category of the military.

Conveying Pontifical greetings and blessing to those present, His Holiness Garegin II, said in particular: "Christianity is a religion of victory and power that reveals the greatest power of faith in God. We felt God's support from Avarayr to Sardarapat and Artsakh, realizing that we are the soldiers of Christ, the soldiers of justice, peace and every benefactor. The Church of Christ is called a warrior church, and the crucifix is its symbol."

Defence Minister Vigen Sargsyan, Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Movses Hakobyan, high-ranking officers, servicemen were present at the event.
