Sixth Armenia-Diaspora Forum kicks off

The 6th Armenia-Diaspora Forum opened at Yerevan’s K. Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex on September 18.

Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan made an opening speech at the plenary session. Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II, brought his speech of blessing.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the participants of the forum, and delivered a speech. The attendees were also welcomed by Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan and Aram I, the catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.

The forum is attended by state officials, public and political figures, heads and members of pan-Armenian organizations operating in Armenian communities, journalists, over 1,800 representatives of business, education, cultural and spiritual sectors from Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora.

Discussions are held in four major fields: Armenia's development issues, aspects of Armenia's defence policies in the light today’s challenges, foreign policy agenda, issues of preservation of the Armenian identity.

The ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, International Economic Integration and Reforms, and Diaspora are responsible for the organization of thematic directions.

Pavilions have been created at the Sports and Concert Complex to display achievements by various governmental agencies, as well as organizations such as the Tumo Innovative Technology Center, the Ayb Innovation School, and the Quantum College. A separate pavilion is dedicated to the "Nation-Army" ideology, the Soldiers' Insurance Fund and the "I am" and "I Have the Honour" programs offering new terms for military service.
