The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia held several meetings in Munich

In the context of the Munich security conference, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan held several bilateral meetings on February 17th.

More particularly, during the meeting with the founding director of the "Kaspersky Laboratories" corporation, Evgeni Kaspersky, questions concerning cooperation in cybersecurity between the Armenian defense administration and the highly experienced firm were discussed. Vigen Sargsyan and Evgeni Kaspersky expressed assurances that cooperation in a field as important as cybersecurity will provide considerable benefits, taking into account the large potential in the IT sector of the Republic of Armenia as well as the enormous experience of the "Kaspersky Laboratories."

 

Vigen Sargsyan also met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania, Raymundas Karoblisi. Several questions were discussed during the meeting, including the future of defense cooperation between Armenia and Lithuania. The participants noted that extensive resources exist for broadening cooperation, in both the bilateral and the multilateral Armenian-EU format.

 

A meeting later took place between the head of the Armenian defense administration Vigen Sargsyan and the Minister of National Defense of Poland Antoni Machieryevich. Highlighting the warm relationship between the two peoples, the heads of the Armenian and Polish defense administrations expressed assurances that large resources exist for deepening defense cooperation. Vigen Sargsyan and Antoni Machieryevich discussed modern global challenges, emphasizing the fact that combined efforts are necessary to effectively address these challenges. A good example of cooperation was the cooperation between Armenian and Poland in peacekeeping operations in other nations.

 

Vigen Sargsyan met with the Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Martin Stropnic. The ministers discussed the future of defense cooperation between the two countries. Despite the fact that Armenia and the Czech Republic are in different military-political alliances, the ministers emphasized that fact that this cannot be a barrier for deepening cooperation, especially since the modern global threats facing the world necessitate active cooperation in defense.

 

On February 17th, Vigen Sargsyan met with Minister of Defense of Lebanon, Yakub Saraf. Emphasizing the huge role of the Armenian community of Lebanon in the nation's political, economic, and cultural life, Yakub Saraf noted that this role is an important factor in the development of relations between the two countries in all directions, including defense. Both parties agreed that the developments taking place in the region bear great dangers, the neutralization of which requires close cooperation between nations. Vigen Sargsyan and Yakub Saraf expressed readiness to increase efforts aimed at deepening defense relations between Armenia and Lebanon.
