On November 5th, special forces day was celebrated at one of the military bases of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, lieutenant-general Movses Hakobyan, high-ranking military officials, special forces veterans, and relatives of special forces servicemen were present at the ceremony.

Before commencing the proceedings, the guests acquainted themselves with the armaments, clothing, and communication and observation devices in the special forces armory.

In his address to the special forces, Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan noted that their uniqueness lies in the fact that they are the first to thrust themselves into battle in order to neutralize the temporary successes of the adversary and keep the combat positions in tact. "The profession of reconnaissance is unique in that it carries out the most exception portion of the 'early warning system,' informing the commanding staff and other subdivisions not only about the resources and positions of the adversary, but also about its intentions and objectives. The success of forces on the real line of battle, the defense of the borders, and the realization of the latter in a secure environment without the loss of life relies on that invisible front," said Vigen Sargsyan, adding that it is the result of dedication and honorable conduct of duty that numerous programs by the adversary have vanished.

"After the April combat operations, we live in a new reality. The armed forces have also taken their first steps in a new stage in history. The months preceding the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the armed forces are distinct for the army in that they represent large-scale provision of modern, innovative solutions and high-tech armaments. It is natural, that such resources are first made available to the special forces. You have already received and used these resources, will continue to receive them, and can confidently confirm that many of them were prepared in Armenia. You are already assured that we have chosen the path of creating and producing Armenian, more modern, and high-tech equipment, rather than the quantity-intensive path," noted Vigen Sargsyan, wishing the reconnaissance troops alertness and vigilance, in detecting and neutralizing the inescapable dangers that arise during their difficult service.

The ceremony continued with an exposition by the reconnaissance subdivisions. At the end of the ceremony, a number of servicemen in the special forces were awarded with administrative medals, personal gifts and certificates of excellence.
