Yerevan hosts the Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation

On January 19th, the 10th jubilee of Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation was launched at the RA MoD administrative complex.

The session was presided over by the chairman of the commission’s Armenian part, Head of Logistics Department, RA Deputy Defence Minister, Alik Mirzabekyan, and the chairman of commission’s Russian part, Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Constantin Biryulin.

The agenda of the intergovernmental commission included issues referring to the implementation process of the decisions taken throughout the previous session, improvement of the normative-legal base of the military-technical cooperation, supplies of products of military importance, as well as issues around the participation of RA and RF organizations and representatives in exhibitions of military products.

Within the framework of the given session, a meeting between RA Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Constantin Biryulin was held on January 19th. During the meeting, the parties discussed matters of bilateral military-technical cooperation.

On the session of January 20th, the RA Minister of Defence greeted the Russian delegation and expressed his gratitude for the collaboration, briefly presented the legal decisions and provisions aimed at promoting bilateral relations in the given sphere and creating new opportunities for the establishment of joint initiatives. The Defence Minister stated that the commission’s activities promote the defence capacity of both countries, and reinforce regional security. The works of the commission will continue till January 22nd.
