Public Involvements
Non-Government and Government Organizations
ARM Ministry of Defence realizes the Armed Forces-public link through different public groups - students of public schools, student organizations, professors and lecturers of higher educational institutions, ARM creative unions, activists in science and culture, about 75 NGOs that cooperate with the MoD, different scientific, educational-cultural and propaganda centers, trade unions, political parties and other political organizations (on non-political bases).
Great attention is paid to the broadening of the cooperation with youth organizations, to the realization of joint cognitive and educational programs, and to the participation of the youth in the army life.
In the sphere of public involvement, the role of participation of public and government organizations in military-patriotic events, and its media coverage is great.
Especially continual are the programs that are realized together with “Yerkrapah” voluntary union, and organizations that unite the participants in the Great Patriotic War and Freedom Fight of Artsakh, and the families of fallen of disabled freedom fighters and servicemen.
ARM MoD supports those organizations, which organize military-patriotic events, pilgrimages and cognitive walking trips in Armenia and the NKR.
The realization of programs by the MoD and NGOs is of continuous nature, and the registration questionnaire for NGOs and the rules for presenting program proposals and reporting can be found on the ARM MoD official website.
Since 2009 organizational support has been provided to the monitoring for the conscription legalization, which is conducted by NGOs under the support of OSCE Yerevan office. Periodically surveys of public opinion are conducted on different army issues.
Educational Sector
In order to improve the military-patriotic education in the new generation the activities of the ARM MoD are regulated by 25 August, 1999 N 532 decision of the ARM Government about “Approving the Rules for Pre-Conscription Preparedness in General Education Schools and Secondary Professional Educational Establishments of the Republic of Armenia”.
According to the 19 December, 2008 N 1606 joint order of the ARM MoD and ARM Ministry of Education and Science “About Strengthening the ties between ARM AF Detachments and General Education Schools, and Improving the Military-Patriotic Education of Pupils” the attachment list of general education schools to detachments was approved.
In order to organize field trainings in pre-conscription program, and to organize pre-conscription and military-patriotic work with students, by the order of the ARM Minister of Defence, in May, 2009 educational establishments in ARM administrative districts were attached to MoD detachments and ARM local military commissariats.
In 2010 in military exercises with simplified combat educational program, 17557 students from all the regions of the Republic participated in practical trainings, including shooting preparedness trainings. And over 25000 students from 997 general education schools participated in “Defender of the Motherland” and “Koryun” military-training games organized in army educational centers and detachments.
According to the 08 September, 2009 N 665 joint order of the ARM ministries of defence, education and science, extreme situations, sports and youth affairs, and the ARM Head of Police “About Approving the Improvement Plan for Pre-Conscription Preparedness and Military-Patriotic Education of Students in ARM General and Secondary Educational Establishments” the program of joint work was approved, the realization of which is upon the committee which was formed by the same order. The committee includes representatives from ARM MoD and Ministry of Education and Science (3 from each), and ARM ministries of extreme situations, sports and youth affairs, and the ARM Head of Police (2 from each).
Every year the ARM MoD assists the furnishing and enriching military educational classroom in schools. It presents the ARM Ministry of Education and Science over 3500 pieces of literature and films with military-patriotic context, published by the ARM MoD Department of Information and Public Affairs. With this goal, by the ARM Military Commissariat and the Ministry of Education and Science joint material assistance was provided to 40 fulcrum schools teaching pre-conscription preparedness.
Just in 2010 by the support of the ARM MoD 39 classrooms for “Military Education” classes and 14 storages for educational armaments (925) were furnished, the number of schools having educational arms increased with 146 and became 646, and 7 schools were given “Single Combat” shooting preparedness trainers.
Each year on the “Day of Knowledge” the “Bravery Classes” are made systematic in general education schools, as for senior classes and in the ARM AF republican and army essay competitions are organized in military-patriotic topics. The authors of the best essays are encouraged with certificates and valuable gifts from ARM Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education and Science.

Besides the work with the ARM ministers of defence, education and science, extreme situations, sports and youth affairs, and the ARM police in the sphere of public education, each year in its public involvement activities the ARM Ministry of Defence realizes a number of joint military-patriotic, educational, and cognitive programs with ARM ministeries of Territorial Administration, Culture, Diaspora, Sports and Youth Affairs.
